Daily Light Integral
How to create a daily light integral data stream.
The Daily Light Integral (DLI) is the total number of photosynthetically active photons that reach a 1 m² surface over a 24-hour period. It's a useful way to think about the total amount of radiation available for plant growth in a given day. Photosynthetic photon flux density (PPFD) is measured by the QSO-S PAR Photon Flux sensor in units of μmol m⁻² s⁻¹, and this instantaneous value is averaged over the measurement interval by the data logger.
- DLI (μmol m⁻²) = ∑ (total mols per square meter in a 24-hour period)
- DLI is typically reported in mols m⁻²: DLI (mols m⁻²) = DLI (μmol m⁻²) / 1,000,000
The Daily Light Integral model uses measured PAR (Photosynthetically Active Radiation) to calculate an accumulated daily light integral. The time period resets daily at midnight.

The Daily Light Integral can be calculated from any photon flux light sensor.
Recommended sensors

Create a Daily Light Integral model
- On the Data page, select New Data.
- Select Daily Light Integral as the type.
- Select one or more photon flux light sources.
- Edit the data stream color.
- Edit the data stream name.
- Select Create to finish.
The new data stream(s) will now appear in your data list.
