Transitioning from ZENTRA Cloud 1.0 to 2.0

ZENTRA Cloud 2.0 replaces ZENTRA Cloud 1.0, but both platforms will coexist for a period of time to ensure a smooth transition. This article explains what to expect, what you need to do, and how device configuration and data flow work during the transition.

ZENTRA Cloud 2.0 is a completely new platform with a new authentication system and updated organization, device, and user management. Because of these changes, no accounts, devices, or users are automatically migrated from 1.0 to 2.0.

Key things to know

Your data continues to flow to both platforms simultaneously.
Data in ZENTRA Cloud 1.0 remains accessible during and after the migration.
No immediate action is required to keep your data safe.
METER will announce timelines well in advance of any future 1.0 shutdown.

What you’ll need to do

When transitioning to ZENTRA Cloud 2.0, existing users will need to:

Create a new ZENTRA Cloud 2.0 login. Passwords and authentication are not shared between platforms.
Create a new organization in ZENTRA Cloud 2.0. Organizations do not carry over.
Re-add devices, such as data loggers and weather stations.
Re-add users and assign permissions as needed.

Device configuration during the transition

ZENTRA Cloud 2.0 supports remote device configuration. How a device transitions depends on whether it already belongs to an organization in ZENTRA Cloud 1.0.

Devices not yet in ZENTRA Cloud 1.0

The device automatically transitions to allow configuration changes from ZENTRA Cloud 2.0 as soon as it is added there.
No additional steps or support assistance are required.

Devices already in ZENTRA Cloud 1.0

Configuration control does not switch automatically, but you can switch it yourself from ZENTRA Cloud 2.0. Switch only when you're ready to manage this device's configuration entirely from ZENTRA Cloud 2.0. Once you select Confirm, the switch can't be cancelled or reversed, even while it's waiting for the device to connect.

You need the Editor role or higher in the device's ZENTRA Cloud 2.0 organization.

Add the device to your ZENTRA Cloud 2.0 organization.
On the Devices page, select the ⋮ menu for the device, then select Configuration.
At the top of the window, under This device is currently receiving configuration changes from:, select ZENTRA Cloud 2.0 (enable for this device).
Select Update, then select Confirm.

The switch completes the next time the device connects to upload data. Until then, the window shows A configuration change is awaiting confirmation from the device.

Don't make configuration changes in ZENTRA Cloud 1.0 while the switch is pending. If a 1.0 change reaches the device at the same time as the switch, it may not be applied. Make any 1.0 changes before you switch, or wait until the switch completes and make them in ZENTRA Cloud 2.0.

Once transitioned, all future configuration changes should be made in ZENTRA Cloud 2.0. During the transition, data continues to flow to both platforms simultaneously, ensuring uninterrupted access to historical and live data.

For API users

ZENTRA Cloud 1.0 APIs (v3/v4) will continue to work during the transition.
Long term, all integrations will move to API v5.
Subscription status will sync between platforms to prevent API interruptions.
