Heat Index
How to create a Heat Index data stream.
Table of Contents
The Heat Index estimates how warm it feels as a result of air temperature and relative humidity. It's used to assess the risk level of outdoor activities: the stress thresholds let you track when heat stress will be experienced and help determine the duration and intensity of outdoor activities. Thresholds are region-dependent.
This model is not yet available in the Beta.
Heat Index thresholds (°F)
Color | Classification | Heat Index |
Red | Extreme Danger | > 125 |
Orange | Danger | 103 – 124 |
Yellow | Extreme Caution | 90 – 103 |
Light Yellow | Caution | 80 – 90 |
Green | Comfortable | < 80 |
Heat Index thresholds (°C)
Color | Classification | Heat Index |
Red | Extreme Danger | > 54 |
Orange | Danger | 41 – 54 |
Yellow | Extreme Caution | 32 – 41 |
Light Yellow | Caution | 27 – 32 |
Green | Comfortable | < 27 |
Supported sensors
Heat Index can be calculated from any air temperature and relative humidity sensor combination.
Recommended sensors
- ATMOS 41
- ATMOS 41W
- ATMOS 14
Create a Heat Index model
- On the Data page, select New Data.
- Select Heat Index as the type.
- Select one or more air temperature and relative humidity sensor sources.
- Edit the data stream color.
- Edit the data stream name.
- Select Create to finish.
The new data stream(s) will now appear in your data list.
